Why the Coorie Fleece Pouch Sling?Benefits of babywearingEarly bonding – The Coorie provides a comforting womb-like atmosphere for your new baby where she will be reassured by your smell and the beating of your heart. Easy breastfeeding – The close proximity offered by carrying your baby in a Coorie will help to stimulate the hormones needed to establish breastfeeding. A well fitted Coorie will allow you to breastfeed on the move. Settled newborn – Trials have shown that babies who are carried cry less. Colic is almost unheard of in countries where babies are regularly carried.By using a Coorie you will be able to fulfil your baby’s needs while getting on with your life. Comfort while ill or teething – If your baby is ill, she will be comforted by being held by you. By using a Coorie you will have your hands free to look after other children or carry on your day to day life. Getting on with life with siblings – The arrival of a new baby can be a difficult time for older children. If your baby is happily settled in a Coorie, feeding, sleeping or just watching what is going on then the transition will be easier. (We also stock a Kids Coorie so that your older child can carry around their dolly or teddy just like you carry their new brother or sister) Easy transport – Carrying your baby in a Coorie makes trips out easier. Bus users needn’t juggle baby, folded buggy, shopping and bus fare and car travellers will have more space left in their boot for shopping! Spinal support – The Coorie is designed to support the delicate head, neck and back of your baby. This sling supports the growth and development of your baby’s pelvis as there are no leg holes to force the pelvis into positions it isn’t ready for. Interactive baby – In a Coorie, your baby is at the ideal height for you to point things out to him. He will attract more attention from others if he is held in their eye-line. Many parents who use slings report that their babies communicate earlier than average having been included in their parents’ conversations right from the start. All about Brightspark SlingsIn 2002 a beautiful boy was born to Laura and Michael Park. Yes, he was beautiful, but he appeared to be enraged at being born into a world so bright, and so loud with so much to look at and so much to be shocked by! Little Alexander cried for 8-12 hours every day for the first six months of his life. It didn’t matter what they did, Alexander seemed to have ‘meltdown’ as his default state! Laura was exhausted and suffering from PND – she had so looked forward to being a Mummy but it seemed that she was no good at it – why else was her precious boy crying all the time? As Alexander grew bigger, carrying him in her arms was not always possible. The Parks tried various carriers on the market but none were quite suitable. Laura had always been handy with a sewing machine and so she bought some fleece and made the first ever Coorie. Alexander LOVED it!! He cooried right in and went to sleep. Laura was able to carry Alexander for longer. Michael realised that wearing a baby in a sling kept his wee boy settled – the whole family was happy! Soon people noticed that Alexander had stopped crying and when Laura explained about her handiwork she had orders from friends, who told their friends, who told their friends ................. Finding an outlet for her creative talents and helping other people find peace with their babies helped Laura to overcome her PND. In March of 2004 a little sister arrived for Alexander, Ruby came out of hospital in her Rainbow Coorie and spent much of her first year there, cooried in to her Mummy, feeding on demand and well out the way of her helpful big brother! These days there are Coories being worn all over Europe and we are proud help people find the joy of babywearing!
